My name is Michael O’Connell, and I started my programming career in the late 90s. Back then, I was able to foresee the fantastic opportunities that this industry would give me. I was born in New York City and took on a programming career from an early age. I specialized in Java and Python, and then I started to learn other languages like C, C++, PHP, Virtual Basic, Classic Virtual Basic, Groovy, Pearl, and others.
In the 2000s, I was in college, and that’s when the VBusers idea was born.
VBusers programming courses
Since I needed extra cash to finance my career and cover expenses, I decided to open an online coding school. Courses were minimal, with only two or three people per session. However, things started to change.
I partnered with other senior students who started to teach with me. Back then, I didn’t master as many programming languages as I do today. Partnering with others meant that we could span more languages to teach our students.
Thus, our coding academy grew, and by 2010 we had over 1,000 students in different parts of the world. This is how VBusers was created.
Our vision: The VBusers community
The idea of a community was in me from the very beginning. But the community was formed little by little. As we grew, we started to connect with other programmers all over the country. Since our courses were imparted online, we also had international members.
I always encouraged and supported the growth of our community because I wanted my vision to come true. I wanted our students to have access to a community where they could get support and share ideas. Now, our community has over 5,000 members, and the number is increasing. Our students get more than tuition. They have access to a group of like-minded people with infinite possibilities.
Our goals: The VBusers website and forum
Our goal from the very beginning was to contribute to the programming industry. We wanted to achieve this by forming top-class professionals and experts in the latest coding trends.
Our first website was created in 2001, and it helped us boost our academy significantly. After we launched our webpage, we welcomed many international students into our community. Most of our global students are from Germany, the UK, Ukraine, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
In 2003 we created our first online forum to encourage communication among our fellow members. Since then, VBusers’ founders have been learning new languages and keeping in touch with the industry’s latest advancements. Thus, we were able to offer more courses. All these factors helped us grow our student base and community.
In 2020 we launched a new version of our website. It’s a platform with enhanced features where students can create a profile. They can take our courses, make online payments, and access 24/7 support from our forum.
Our mission: The VBusers blog
We understand that the industry has changed. We have come a long way since the static web pages from the 90s. Even though we have many years of experience, we know that this needs to be combined with fresh talent. There is nothing like a fine mixture of expertise and innovation.
We hope to reach all kinds of programmers with our new approach, especially the younger audiences. We strongly believe that this will provide unique value to our community and the industry in general. Our mission is to teach the youngest members all our knowledge and contribute to the programming sector. We believe this industry has fantastic possibilities ahead. This is our mission, our call, and our legacy.
